1. Core Function and Control

• Primary Purpose: Regulates the mass flow of liquid refrigerant into the evaporator.

• Control Mechanism: Controls the refrigerant’s superheat at the evaporator outlet, ensuring optimal heat exchange and compressor protection.

• Superheat Charge: The temperature sensor assembly utilizes a cross charge.

• Benefit: Ensures good superheat characteristics and stable performance across the entire evaporation temperature range

• Superheat Setting: Factory setting for static superheat is typically 4 K.

2. Material and Construction

• Main Body: Made from Stainless Steel (Lead-free material).

  • Benefit: Offers superior robustness, high vibration resistance, and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for demanding environments like the food industry

• Valve Port: Features a Stainless Steel valve port.

  • Benefit: Strong and reliable, capable of withstanding the reverse impact of high-pressure refrigerant within the system.

• Connections: Uses Copper connecting pipes.

• Evaporating Temperature Range ($T_e$): Wide range, typically -40C to +10C (-40F to +50F).

• Medium Temperature Range: Typically -40C to +70C.

• Max. Operating Pressure (PS): High-pressure rating, typically 3.5MPa (35 bar or 505psig).

• Nominal Capacity Range (RFGC 06 – R290): Available in various models with capacities ranging from approximately 0.49 kW up to 14.3 kW (based on standard nominal conditions).

4. Configuration Options

• Pressure Equalization: Available with options for:

  • Internal Equalization

  • External Equalization (denoted by an ‘E’ in the model number, e.g., RFGC06E)

• MOP Charge (Maximum Operating Pressure): An optional charge is available.

   

  • Benefit: Limits the maximum evaporating pressure, serving as a protective function for the compressor against motor overload.
